This one is going to involve a lot of honesty & self-reflection. Run now. You've been warned.
I know for a fact that I'm blessed. I'm healthy. I have a loving family. There are friends out there happy to see me when we meet. I've got one of the single greatest jobs ever. I live in what is historically a golden age (no, it's far from perfect, yes, it's WAY better than we've ever had it, please go read history, let it go, I'm right on this one). For all this, and a thousand other things, I'm grateful.
Oh, but man, I slip on that. I'll get hung on how some technology isn't the way it ought to be. Or at least, the way I think it ought to be. I can let that mess with mood rather than be grateful that the technology works miracles for me and I'm moaning about the last 10%.
Someone at work does an oopsie and I readily forget all the great things they've helped me out with in the past. They're consistently better than I am, but hoo boy, if they slip...
I'll sit and play a video game for a couple of hours and then complain that I don't have time for something that I consider more important. Yet, I chose not to prioritize it and played that game.
It just gets hard sometimes to focus where I should, on all the good things. I can honestly say, the good outweighs the bad. Yet, the bad gets a lot of my attention. I simply want to share today that, I do try to live a life of gratitude. Every day I'm vertical is win. Every time I'm walking around the trees with the dogs isn't a task, it's a win. Travel to foreign lands? Win. Sharing knowledge. Win. So very much more here, and I am grateful.
If you catch me being less than grateful, call me on it.
