SQL Server Bulk Insert Row Terminator Issues

We often need to import data into SQL Server from a file. Sometimes unwanted end of line characters are part of the source file and these can create issues when importing the data. One of the ways to avoid this issue is to use SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), but it doesn't always make sense to use SSIS for simple operations.
