I'm just glad I can stop doing that! It was getting tiring... what with all those awesome posts where he was showing how to use it, it was hard following him around! 😛

(Looking forward to adding to my signature... For some awesome articles on how to use CROSS APPLY, see Part 1 and Part 2)!

If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!

  • The Dixie Flatline (3/31/2010)

(whew) It took me 45 minutes to catch up.... I'm out of breath from reading so fast.

    1. How hard can it be to spell GliaMonster correctly?

    2. Deer get shot in my part of the world.

    3. I always thought participation in The Thread was slacking. If it isn't, don't tell me. It would spoil all the fun.

OK. It's the middle of Friday night here (West Coast USA), I'm catching up on the Thread after a production call, and I nearly woke the rest of the family guffawing at number 1. Subtle stuff, Dixie....

  • I guess it depends if you know what one is!

To be fair, that could easily be a typo. I know Word helps me with teh all the time.

  • It was ton a typo, Steve.

Answering the question a day late with the answer published in the news letter?

Is it? Oh, well that might explain it too, then!

Thought the same thing as Trey - so I tracked the results for a full week (7 days) about 40 additional attempts were completed, but the percentage increase in correct answers did NOT show a significant difference going from 67.2 percent to 67.3 percent.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

I sit here and wonder how those people at the top are nearly perfect in the QOD with so many that were wrong.

    Multiple registrations?

Probably - just gaming the system then.

But what's the point of gaming the system - the points for QOD are trivial, the people with lots of points overall are the ones who post lots to the forums.

Anyway, reverting to the forum's topic: yes QOTD questions are getting worse - or rather the answers are. I've been around I guess for nearly a year (might be less, might be more, can't remember) and I'm noticing a lot more incorrect "right" answers now than I was back then.

    Tom

  • I usually don't even both looking at the QOD. I find the "real life" questions in the forums more interesting. 😉 The points come a little harder but they're much more satisfying.

Hey, Steve! Where's my "mug"? 😛

________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

I usually don't even both looking at the QOD.

That's a shame - there have been some really good discussions on the QotD on occasion. I lot of very poor ones too, in fairness.

Your first QOD going up on Wednesday (7th April).

    Hope Jeff reads it ...
