But what's the point of gaming the system
Seems to me the ones who game the system are the ones that know the least ... and those who whine and cry about it are the least knowledgeable.
Yet it just might, and I say might teach some something that they otherwise would not know, so from that point of view the QOD feature is good.

I sit here and wonder how those people at the top are nearly perfect in the QOD with so many that were wrong.Multiple registrations?
The answer is in the newsletter the next day. Easy to get perfect QotD scores if you have been getting the newsletter all along.

Probably - just gaming the system then.
Not all of them. I do not check on the weekends (usually) and many times during the week I actually have work to do so there are times I answer two or three at once. BUT I don't pad my numbers with hundreds of posts as the numbers mean little to me, it's the quality I look for. AND, I got seven on April Fool's day - booyah!!

I remember when the 10 and 20meg harddrives became available and my first thought was, "Why get a 20 meg harddrive? You'll never use all of it!" heh. How times have changed. Now I can carry a few gig of storage in my pocket (depending on the size of flash drive) and still have files that are too big to put on it. Those also the times when the blue screen of death was more common and meant your computer might actually be dead instead of most likely having to do some diagnostics and then be up and running again. Memories of holding my breath during reboot hoping that the operating system (Windows 3.11) would come up abound. Luckily, my computers survived the blue screen of death (and so did I. 🙂 ). I don't think I've seen a blue screen of death for a while.

Speaking of harddrive size, I should be receiving my 2 TB drive today. It wasn't that long ago that we wouldn't have thought of a HD of that size. Now we're buying them for home use.

I've been using a 2TB drive for about 1yr now as an external drive. Most excellent investment.

Remember how much you paid for it? I got mine (internal) for $150.

Wasn't Windows 3.11 "just" an application back in those days that required one of the DOS versions underneath as an OS? Or do I have a memory leak?

Correct. If I'm not mistaken. Windows 95 was the first "OS" version.

Yeah, but it required DOS be on the system too. 98 sort of did away with requiring DOS, but it still came installed.

Didn't w98 will require some DOS boot stuff for setup? Not sure since I stuck with W95 until W2K
