I'm not sure I got the order of operation there correct. Do you check that it's the correct DB before or after dropping it?The order is not that critical if you have DBCC TimeWarp installed. π
I always found the time to check was 'During'. Gave me the most interesting results. π
I'd agree, but the duration for drop database is so short there isn't even time to reflect on the meaning of life.
I just realized who our drop database OP was. Doh
I realised even before I opened it. Some days I wonder...
... and other days I'm VERY sure.

Local news: Lots of changes on 1 October. GST went up, income tax came down, and Internet bandwidth increased to 15Mbps from 10Mbps. And I'm moving house. How much is GST increasing by? We're planning a tour of both islands for next year and had all of the hotel, fuel bills and suchlike budgeted. If we have to increase it all by a large percentage then I'm selling some of the kid's organs.
Sell them anyway... you're already a brain donor! π
I'd donate my brain to science if they would agree to come retrieve it immediately. π

Doesn't really matter does it? You can just hit the undo button.

Has anyone ever picked up the DVD from PASS Summit? Does it have all 150+ sessions recorded, or is it just one DVD with select sessions or just presentation files? Thanks,
Chad
It's several DVDs and it has all the sessions except for the pre/post-con sessions.

I got the DVDs last year, after missing most sessions. I've listened to a few and they are pretty good. You definitely miss something by not seeing the speaker, but it's not horrible.

Wayne posted the link for last year, if you want this year's copy I think you can purchase it when you register, or if you've already registered and need to add it (like me), you can call and have it added to your registration. It looks like it's cheaper if you pre-pay ($125?). Work agreed to foot the bill, which is nice.

Is it time to implement some sort of entrance exam for SSC? After reading the question I actually spent a few minutes staring at the screen thinking "What .......? "

That's quite funny.
Some years ago while working for a London borough, our little group of contractors used to joke that the council had an upper IQ limit as an entrance requirement. Somewhere around 70. One advantage I suppose of having a socialist local government was that otherwise-unemployable folks had somewhere to go in the mornings, even if they didn't know what to do when they got there.

I see this a lot, even with authors. People think you are following along with them, or they don't realize they're skipping steps to ask a question and explain themselves.
It's probably obvious to that guy what a "processed" row is.

A guess would be a null value for CMD_File_Date_Loaded in the third table, but to paraphrase JBM "a developer should know"

Oh yeah, the number of times where I've gotten back edits that simply say "I don't understand this paragraph" and when I read what I wrote, I don't understand it either, are too numerous to count.

I read that one as the OP does not know how to do an import, or an import with a filter. My initial reaction was along the lines of "Do you even know enough SQL to be asking that question?"

And just when I thought the project I'm on couldn't get any worse..
We're officially in UAT, though both the front-end dev and I are still developing. Had a meeting with the business users yesterday to demo the half of the system that was working. Business users came up with a long list of changes they want, none of which were in the spec.
I take a look over the list and, of the 4 that impact me, rate 2 as moderate-difficult and 2 as minor, but comment that I can't give a time impact until I've had a chance to analyse a bit better. The front end dev rates 1 as medium, estimating a week's work, and the rest as minor
This morning, in project meeting, project manager announces that we will be implementing all but one of those changes before the original project deadline (2 weeks away)
