Are the posted questions getting worse?

For your monday evening entertainment: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic997896-357-1.aspx

There are days I just don't want to know...

Is it awful of me that the first thing I think of when I read this article is that this is a disgruntled employee who just managed to perms on production and wants to mess with his employer.

I'm not sure I got the order of operation there correct. Do you check that it's the correct DB before or after dropping it?

The order is not that critical if you have DBCC TimeWarp installed. 😀

I always found the time to check was 'During'. Gave me the most interesting results. 🙂

I'd agree, but the duration for drop database is so short there isn't even time to reflect on the meaning of life.

I've found if you have an SSMS window open on the database in question, you can force the database drop to last quite a while. @=)

It feels just like using DBCC Timewarp.

And just when I thought the project I'm on couldn't get any worse..

We're officially in UAT, though both the front-end dev and I are still developing. Had a meeting with the business users yesterday to demo the half of the system that was working. Business users came up with a long list of changes they want, none of which were in the spec.

I take a look over the list and, of the 4 that impact me, rate 2 as moderate-difficult and 2 as minor, but comment that I can't give a time impact until I've had a chance to analyse a bit better. The front end dev rates 1 as medium, estimating a week's work, and the rest as minor

This morning, in project meeting, project manager announces that we will be implementing all but one of those changes before the original project deadline (2 weeks away)

I just realized who our drop database OP was. Doh

Hmm. This made me go look at previous posts. Quite interesting...

    What did I miss?

The PM's boss fully supports him. I'm an external consultant (ie slave), so not in their management structure, so in any conversation I have with their management, I'm automatically wrong.

That said, I suspect there's going to be an interesting email from my MD to the client shortly. He is not happy.

That is several kinds of messed up. Sorry to hear it. That kind of frustration makes the normal frustrations associated with this business seem that much worse.

That's good. My initial reaction after reading that was "Ah, good, so when you go live my 2 week notice will have just expired and you all can have a real good time trying to deal with this tragedy you've decided to implement."

I feel for you, Gail. At least you've got SOME backup.

The OP in this case has a long history of asking questions and then asking the same question later. Some people have blacklisted this particular OP - some still try to help.

Brandie - not a joke. Go to the link above, and click the OP name. Select "Find all Members Posts". Then - enjoy the read. As Lynn stated earlier "sounds like a permanent Jr DBA" (slightly paraphrased).

    Gail, I have two thoughts.

First, do your typical outstandingly great job. Then enjoy dreaming over how much you'll be charging them when they want you back for something else. :-D:-D:-D:w00t::w00t::w00t:

Second - do you use the SSMSToolsPack? It has a code snippet feature, where you type in an abbreviation and the predefined code is entered in the code window. It comes with a WTF predefined for use... seems like it would be useful to you today!
