Generate Add Foreign Keys statements for the table

I was going through the painfull optimization of the database of creating better clustered indexes (not the default ones on the primary key).This operation was requiring removing all foreign keys to this table and then recreation them again.I created this script to optimize this quite tidious task.

Pagination in stored procedure

You recently published a script showing how to do pagination (e.g. results 20 - 30 of 100) It's also possible to do it quicker and more elegantly without having to resort to building the sql string dynamically (never a good thing IMHO). You pass in 2 parameters, @PageIndex is the first record you want (so […]

The calculation of distance between two points using standard spherical geometry can be inaccurate for short distances (ten miles or less) because the sine function of very small angles approaches zero. The haversine approach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haversine_formula) turns this around, so it is very accurate at small distances but has larger errors (about ten miles) for points […]

Question of the Day

The Empty Aggregate

I have this table in a SQL Server 2025 database:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[CustomerOrder]
(
[OrderID] [int] NULL,
[CustomerID] [int] NULL,
[total] [money] NULL
) ON [PRIMARY]
GO
What is returned from this code? (answers are for the sum and then the count)
SELECT SUM(total) AS sum,
       COUNT(total) AS count
FROM dbo.CustomerOrder;
