  • RE: Are the posted questions getting worse?

Why can I picture something like that actually being buried in the depths of the SQL / SSIS code?

One of those little "bored programmer" things that's hidden in a...

I can only imagine what it must be like to have SQL Server running in some non-English language. MS probably translated the obtuse into the indecipherable.

This is reminiscent of the "test" they gave perdiocally when I was still in school. The instructions said "Read the entire test before starting." The questions were...

  • RE: The Importance of Reading Comments

I agree. It's more than just reading code comments, though. Sometimes comments about the article itself can be just as important.

I've seen several MSDN articles marked as incomplete or...

  • RE: Are the posted questions getting worse?

    Overheard from a boss / co-worker conversation:

Co-worker points out problems with future process.

Boss responds: "Don't bring reality into this..."

And yes, he was joking. It was a commentary on how some...

  • RE: Performace issue while updating records and trigger on table

Without knowing DDL and having sample data to test against, this is a W.A.G. but maybe it'll help point you in the correct direction.

    I hate SQL Server destinations.

Really, really, really, really, really hate them.

  • RE: Transaction Log File "Does not Exist" - Help, please

Yes, actually, I did. I had to use the DAC to log into SQL Server (I think I did it through SSMS), add the file, then remove it.

    Turns out...

I'm hoping someone here tests the backups!

We test our backups every day, actually. The only ones we don't test with that frequency are the system dbs.
