Already started the packages - should I send them by swallow to Gail?Pigeon or smoke signal please. Swallows exceed the internet speed limit in this part of the world.
ROFLMA! I remember that article!!!
Laughing hard enough it is hurting my achy back.
I remember that article too but forgot that it was a pigeon and substituted swallow in its lieu.

You haven't heard the latest fun from the country's telco.
It's now possible to get internet access with speeds up to 20 Mb/s. Achieved by teaming multiple ADSL connections together. Current price, including 100GB monthly download limit, R16 500 ($2200) per month

Yes, both the price and the download limit. Have edited to make that clearer.
In case it's not obvious, that's not aimed at the individual user. It's for medium to large companies.

No kidding. That's more than my house payment.

So what you're saying is we should invest in SA telco?

It's mostly government owned.

No kidding. That's more than my house payment.
It's about 5 times my house payment.
To give you a rough idea, I pay around R500/month for 512kb/s with a 5GB cap.
For a 1Mb/s (actually anything from 1Mb/sec to 4 Mb/sec) line with a 16GB cap, I'd pay R1000/month
If I wanted the 1Mb/sec line with no usage cap it would cost me R3300/month
Current exchange rate is around R7.50 = $1

No matter if it is individual or business - that's a bit steep.

Plus, from everything I have seen here on SSC, you don't even know you have been nominated until you have been awarded MVP. So, with that I can always hope, but reality just tells me not to get my hopes up too much.
No, you'll know you were nominated because they'll ask you to send in all the supporting documentation. I didn't tell anyone except my SO that I'd been nominated.

So, with that I can always hope, but reality just tells me not to get my hopes up too much.It is good to not go seeking it. I believe you, just giving you a hard time. I believe you when you say you would be humbled by it too. I think if one is not humbled by it, then maybe it doesn't mean as much to that person.
To be honest, I think my first reaction would be much like Grant's, total disbelief.
So, Grant, when did you finally realize it was real? Did it take a few days?
I don't think it was completely real until I was sitting in the MVP sessions at the PASS Summit. That was 7 months later.

I have also heard rumors like whom you know also counts in the decision making.
I have heard the same thing, but since the only people I know are right here, I don't think I've got some great advantage over others.
Now since then, I've met a lot of people. It's kind of cool to be in the club. No lie.
