I have also heard rumors like whom you know also counts in the decision making.I have heard the same thing, but since the only people I know are right here, I don't think I've got some great advantage over others.
Now since then, I've met a lot of people. It's kind of cool to be in the club. No lie.
Ah, but you've written a couple of books. Definitely helps the MVP profile. Not that you didn't deserve it any way.

Would like to write one, just not too sure about what to write. Some people can write with ease, not so much for me.

Thanks guys, but I was referring to who you know in this case.
And why no copes of Beginning SQLServer 2008 Administration? Where's the love?

Oh, we've got Professional SQL Server 2008 Internals and Troubleshooting - and the first author to play with, who I believe you met last year. He does all that stuff. Anyway, haven't I bought enough of your books already? π

No kidding. That's more than my house payment. It's about 5 times my house payment.
To give you a rough idea, I pay around R500/month for 512kb/s with a 5GB cap.
For a 1Mb/s (actually anything from 1Mb/sec to 4 Mb/sec) line with a 16GB cap, I'd pay R1000/month
If I wanted the 1Mb/sec line with no usage cap it would cost me R3300/month
Current exchange rate is around R7.50 = $1
Interesting timing. Just got a mail from my ISP. As of beginning March I'm been bumped to the 4Mb/s line with a 6GB cap, no extra charge.
Not that I use the full 5GB in an average month, but the thought is nice

Christian Bolton? Nice guy. Very smart. I'm reading that book now.
And until my advance is paid off, no, no has bought enough copies. Everyone should throw away any copies they currently own and buy another, right away. And then do that three more times.

If you need any research done or if you need help, please do tell me. I do not have the knowledge or the art for writing books but I would love to be involved in one. π

I've considered it, but I've also talked to people who have done it (Grant being one) and I don't think I have the ambition/energy to do it based on those conversations. I would be interested in doing some tech editing and have made myself available to do that for the SQL Server Standard.
One day I may work on a chapter or 2 and then move forward.
For anyone who is interested in doing a book, I think doing a a book for Simple-Talk would be a great place to start.
