I am not sure what did he mean by thisAtul DBA (12/4/2009)
I am not sure about you OS.Does SQL Server supports any other OS other than Windows Server?
He might be asking which version of Windows.

He could have mentioned as "I am not sure about your Windows Version (2003 or 2008)" right ???

You mean I can't run SQL Server on Knoppix and fail replication over to the subscriber on an as-needed basis?:-P:-D

That would have been no more relevant to the question than what he did post. The taskkill app that he was talking about has been in every windows operating system since at least Windows 2000. Plus, since the whole discussion was session kills in SQL, the version of the OS and the ability to forcefully kill a windows process were completely off the point and of no use.

I do have 2005 running on my cell phone - mirrored from a BB to an IPhone. You wouldn't believe the performance:-D

Now that I read it again, it's a 2-for-1.As you have Replication setup, you can failover to other server database and then restart the service.
When did replication gain a failover option? Is this a new R2 feature?
I am not sure what did he mean by this

Just to be annoyingly literal on this:
Sure it does. It supports every OS that matters: Win Server, Vista, XP, Win 7. It supports them all! :hehe:

Hmmm. Just got email from random SSC member. Starts "Help me with this" then goes on for 2 pages. Looked like homework too.

Now if they had said "Help me with this, please, Expert." that would have been another matter entirely. 😉
