https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/sustainable-procurement-best-practices-for-esg-driven-supply-chains-4 looks like AI generated with the sole purpose of being an advertising post of the "Zycus " software/company - and those commenting on it look just like bots created to push article up.

I think the reality of the new world is that both AI and bots are going to be an annoying set of things to deal wtih.

Interesting read: https://blog.pragmaticengineer.com/stack-overflow-is-almost-dead/?utm_source=tldrnewsletter
That is an interesting read. And I'm glad it didn't gloss over the moderator nonsense.

I recently asked AI to revamp a MERGE statement into the 3 separate regular parts .
Of course, you can copy / paste and execute that generated code directly into production, right ? 🤪
It failed miserably and even dropped the "into" object at the end.
But it needs to be said, performance got better without the MERGE 😀 ( credits to the one posing the question 😎 )

In the parlance of a particular Reddit sub-reddit, AITA?
It seems my method of instruction for my backups irritates one of the two (worse, the primary backup, but there's more to this part of the story.) What I tend to do is, if there was an issue with something over the weekend, such as, say, backups failing, I ask THEM to tell me what they think happened. Typically, I've already looked into the problem and know what the cause and fix is and will let them know this, so they know they can take their time working the problem. I will assist by giving them hints, or pointers towards where to look (SQL job histories, Redgate Monitor Alerts, etc) but generally step to the side to see what path they go down.
If they get stumped, I share my answer. If they find the cause, I let them know they're right. If they take a different route to the solution, I tell them so AND point out that they found the solution so they're method was just as valid as mine (and, if it's a BETTER solution? Tell them so.)
I do my darndest to avoid any sort of condescending or treating them as anything other than an adult.
But, based on what I've said, would any of you say that, yes, I am the a__hole, here? That perhaps my method does come across as condescending?
And, related to some of the above, how would you deal with someone who's been assigned as your backup, who doesn't want to BE a backup (they have other, non-SQL duties, they're only expected to cover when I'm off,) yet who also isn't willing to go to the supervisor and say "I don't want to do this?" Frankly the attitude from said backup is pushing me to the point of going to my supervisor and telling them that I don't care if we are absolutely forbidden to work remotely for any reason, I'm going to start taking my laptop with me on vacations and checking in while off because *I* don't want them as my backup...
OK, venting over...
We now return you to your regular topic shenanigans here.

Not the asshole. The backups need to know how to troubleshoot things in the event you are absolutely out of reach. It sounds more like they want you to do all the work on the assumption they will never be needed.

Any CDC performance experts in the house, additional beneficial if you have tweaked it on a managed instance, seeing around a 30% performance decrease with CDC being enabled on the DB's.

I'm looking for a replacement to ADS, as I'm a Linux user at home and Microsoft have decided to retire it. My searching frequently brings me to DataGrips, which looks like ADS-Like (or maybe ADS is DG-like), and wondered if anyone else has tried using it with SQL Server? What was the experience like?
As DG as a licence cost, I'm a little on the fence about it; it has a 30 day trial at least. Does anyone know of any good alternatives? (Please not DBeaver; I never got on with it). I'm also loath to create a Windows VM just for Windows.

Have you looked at VSCode instead?
ADS is built on top of VSCode, so it has a similar look and feel.
Yes it's not going to be 100% feature to feature VSCode vs ADS, but it has some extensions like database projects etc, all depends what you want from the IDE I suppose.

The VSCode-MSSQL extension looks to be a poor candidate, if I am honest. I, and several others, have been strong advocates over on GitHub about features currently missing from the extension and there seems to be no appetite to implement them. Even features such as F5 to execute, Ctrl+N for a new query window are unplanned or even explicitly declined feature requests.
