I’m not sure “Thank you” is enough.

At the recent Pgconf.dev conference in Vancouver, we were all treated to a very special roundtable/presentation. The gentleman on this stage helped to bring PostgreSQL from a University project to a full, open-source, viable commercial platform. They spearheaded the project's creation and gave us many of the technologies we still use today. 

They talked like it was yesterday, about a worldwide community that came together simply to improve a product people were using. That was one of the best pieces of advice I took from this group as well.

When asked what the future holds for PostgreSQL, the answer is simply to keep coming up with new ideas. Don’t limit it to specific technologies; focus on all ideas and keep working as a community to find what works best.

As we move forward with PostgreSQL and this amazing community, I hope we continue to be open to new ideas, new projects, diversity, and welcoming to all new people that come into the community. Everyone has something to add to this project, and we will continue to grow it as we move forward.  

While I was able to sit down with several of these individuals later on in the evening, I made sure to thank them for their contribution to a project that has been critical to my career over the last 10 years. For those that I didn't have a chance to chat with THANK YOU for all that you have done for the community.  If you run into them at a future event/conference, please thank them for the work they have put into this community.
