...It is not the lack of skills, or indifference, but the lack of money that drives program quality to the current all time lows...

    I agree that is...

  • RE: Are the posted questions getting worse?

We are aware of the issue. When we see SPAM, we ban the account, and all posts get deleted, but it does take a little time.

    I have escalated this as...

Thanks for the thought-provoking article Steve.

  • RE: Conflist between collations

FYI, here's the explanation from MS:

Some of the columns that contain pre-defined strings (like types, system description, constants) are always fixed to a specific collation – Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS. This is irrespective...

  • RE: Fantasy Football 2014

I won't be taking Peyton Manning again this year. I was sooooooo glad I passed on him for Cam Newton last year </sarcasm>

  • RE: The log file for database 'tempdb' is full

I'd agree with Jason. Enlarge your tempdb log. 47MB is small and space is relatively cheap. It's not worth these errors.

I'd probably grow to 1GB and monitor the space usage...

    Oh dear! "all Hardware"???

    Soundcard? Joystick? USB devices?

Or am I answering the wrong question?

    See this MSDN library page.

Or am I just a couple of years...

  • RE: Red Gate Rolls Out the Red Carpet for SQL Server Users

I don't believe we're refunding the ticket price this year. The cost of the event was fairly substantial last year, especially with so many people registering and then not coming.

  • RE: The Brittleness of Replication

I'll still disagree with you, Brandon. If something doesn't tolerate imperfections in the environment, it's a bit brittle. There are plenty of ways that replication could auto recover from these...

  • RE: Getting real time'ish updates from a database

For PoSh, for sure. Not sure how complex, but it has piping and I know I can run PS locally to connect to Azure databases. I assume SSIS can.

    In terms...

  • RE: Conflist between collations

I did find this: http://blog.bugrapostaci.com/tag/latin1_general_ci_as_ks_ws/. That makes some sense, but I'm not sure why we wouldn't set the default for servers to be _KS_WS as well? It shouldn't matter in...

  • RE: Conflist between collations

Ugh, you are right. I was checking a few random columns.

Sys.objects has the name in the default, but type in the other collation. That is crazy. I'll try to find...
