  • RE: Need to move Analysis databases and cubes to D drive on same server

Moved to Analysis Services forum. Please watch the forum names.

  • RE: RESTORE DATABASE

Just so I'm clear, you are running this through SSMS connected to QA, correct?

I wouldn't think network permissions would matter other than the copy. Are you positive the logical names...

  • RE: Applications w/SQL

It might be worth adding some forums for that. Haven't seen much sharepoint posting here, but perhaps it would generate interest.

I'd love some Sharepoint content. Anyone wanna write?

  • RE: The Build Buy Debate

Great points and a nice reply from Jessica. Buying can work, especially when you need to save time.

I'm not completely opposed to buying, it's just that I see core...

  • RE: Applications w/SQL

Do you mean an open source project or is this something you want me to do here on the site.

Trust me, not sure you want me writing an applicaiton like...

  • RE: Podcast Problem

You can try going to sqlservercentral.podshow.com and seeing if you can listen/view an embedded cast.

  • RE: The Build Buy Debate

    James,

I'd agree with you on something like the forums, but that's a very generic item. What about SugarCRM? I could easily add customizations, like phone/VOIP integration, automation to some customer...

  • RE: The Build Buy Debate

The problem with giving back to open source, in many cases, is that the competitive advantage you might gain from adding your own cool customization or bug fixes, is gone...

  • RE: The Database Week In Review for 10/22

I believe the analogy is that Microsoft is like a toddler playing a game against a 12 year old (Google) . Since size helps in basketball, they're outmatched, but he's...

  • RE: Nineteen Eighty Mom

Data quality is a great point and it's certainly suspect in most places I've worked as well.

  • RE: Dumping tran log after backup with sqlmaint

The backup db and backup log do different things. Dumping the log will not free up space in the database. If you are running log backups (full or bulk mode),...

  • RE: Calculating index seeks & index scans in sql server 2000

I don't believe this information is tracked in SQL Server 2000. If you ran profiler, you might be able to get it, but I'm not sure.

  • RE: Linked Server SQL 2005 to SQL 2000

    A couple thoughts.

Did you select SQL Server or some other driver?

What type of security options did you set? There's a second and third tab in the add linked server dialog.

  • RE: Sql 2000 monitoring software

Please watch the forums. This is (was) a 2005 forum. The post is moved.

Lumigent also has a product to audit activity on servers. I haven't used either one, but I...

  • RE: Transaction log restore options 2005 - gui vs script

If you've patched the server, you shouldn't need to install SSIS. I believe service pack 2 allows you to run the maintenance plans without SSIS.

Are these files always named the...
