    The backup file isn't changed. What happens when you do the restore is that the mdf/ldf/ndf are created as sparse files. All reads from these files...

    Not being a DBA, I don't know the answer to this. Do DBA's work independently or do they get permission first before making changes? AS a developer and "accidental"...

    Since it is NOT a SSIS Server, then why are you storing all those SSIS packages in the MSDB database?

    Remove them, that will free up a few Gigs...

    You need to purge the sysxmitqueue. Basically there is an application that is sending messages to your server. Somebody enabled service broker but...
