Why aren't you using Query Analyzer? It's a much better way to run your scripts.

How are you trying to connect Enterprise Manager? Are you using the SA account?
What errors are you getting (look in the Windows Event Viewer logs)?
Can you connect using Query Analyzer?

Update your service pack to at least SP3a and make sure your SA account has a strong password. Then retry your script.

Did you say you are using this for a view? Try adding an ORDER BY to the script and see if that works.

Try this:

See if that works in both databases.

Check what Compatibility Level the database is set for.
Use Enterprise Manager, find the database, right click, select Properties, go to OPTIONS tab. At the bottom it will show your Compatibility...

One issue with DATETIME is that it includes the TIME. If you don't supply a time, then the default is 00:00:00.000.
So, BETWEEN '2005-08-09' AND '2005-08-11' is actually BETWEEN '2005-08-09 00:00:00.000'...

In Enterprise Manager, right click on the instance, select Properties, click on Startup Parameters. Make sure those show the correct locations.
