Looking around Google, I think I've answered my own question about port 1433. Which is, it cannot be used for multiple instances the way they think it can be used....

Okay. The solution was to get a CNAME record in the DNS server for the standalone instance after setting up the alias records in Configuration Manager to use port 1433...
