What's Your Theme Music?

  • Comments posted to this topic are about the item What's Your Theme Music?

  • I have loved music all my life, having studied piano from early elementary school, played cornet, trombone, baritone, and tuba in school band, etc.  Now at 83 years I listen to music from my digital library and satellite radio almost daily in my home office.  My jazz collection is playing right now.

I have always been a pretty independent thinker and have come to detest advertising.  I really hate all the silly (stupid) people showing their teeth with fake smiles and blathering about things they know nothing about.  Rarely do I make a purchase based on anything someone is promoting.  I can go to a store and purchase only what I need and ignore all the other items, well maybe except for a case of wine, a case of beer, and $50 worth of snacks.

I guess now my theme song has become the old Frank Sinatra (and others) song titled "I Did It My Way".  I even told my wife this could be the epitaph on my tombstone.

  • My theme music I'd like to have playing when I take the stage at a conference is Bound by Purpose by Twelve Titans Music.

    Rod

  • I wonder if I could get away with For Evigt by Volbeat?

  • I think for me, I'd go with something a bit "fun" and kind of appropriate for a tech crowd...

Granted, the processor series mentioned are a bit "dated," but...

It's all about the Pentiums - Weird Al Yankovic

I think I'd also have to find myself the gold lame' suit, too...

  • I would ask for the great solo guitar of "Comfortably numb" from Pink Floyd's "The wall" album. Ten thousand points to the UK band.

    Great solo

  • I did that for the SQL Saturday in Kalamazoo, MI in 2013.  I did a take on "Strolling through the park" to introduce my session on how to safely use xp_CmdShell.  And, yeah... I was VERY animated on the entrance, the exit, and the re-entrance.  That and the session was great fun!

I was walking through the code one daaayyyyy,

Like I should as a good DBAaaaaaaaaa,

    Things were going really well,

Until I ran across the 'shelllllllll....!!!!

And then I turned and walked the other way!

For the record, this is where I first met Ed Wagner, who became my best friend shortly after the presentation.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
