  • So, from a quick gander, it appears that Windows Server 2008 (probably R2) is starting to support geographically separate clusters?

If so, interesting, something we may investigate here, in 3 or 4 years when we might have the budget to it.

    Give up....

    Perhaps your second answer

    You dont.

You need to send the commands batches ( ie each GO block) separately to SQLServer.

confused the poor lad, particularly after you had said (in your first answer, which was probably correct since there is nothing wrong with his SQL: unless there's something not supported in the edition he is using)

You need to send you commands in one block (without GO) or separate statements.

If instead of your perhaps just a tad confusing second answer you'd told him "just go through the script and delete all the GOs by hand" he would probably have gone away a happy bunny.

There are a lot of implications and problem points with a geographic cluster. That could take quite a while to master.

True, but like I said, something to look at in the future when we might actually have the budget to do it should we pursue a true DR site. Right now, we don't have the budget to build one any way.

My gut feeling is that he is trying to learn the concepts rather than actually setting it up..
