Me too. 20+ years in the industry, I guess we're supposed to know everything. Some days, the LAST thing I want to do when I get home is get on a computer again. Downtime is good and usually very welcomed - although rare.

What are writing about, Paul?
I started writing my first article 9 months ago and it isn't finished yet.:crying:

Everytime I get this type of thing at home or elsewhere I just regurgitate my local Geek Squad's phone number which I've committed to memory. And that Oh BTW they'll be charging $100/hour or so which is substantially lower than the $200/hour I usually charge... Additionally I explain in very small words that while I did that type of support 15 years ago when I first started that I haven't worked on hardware in a long time and that so many things have changed that it will probably take twice to 3 times as long. If they still want me to do the work I'll happily do it for the $1000 or so it will cost them, but people usually stop asking me after they get the first bill...

That is so much harder to do with wife, children, and in-laws 😉
