  • Yum, just finished my prime rib - that hit the spot after all the carnivore talk. Late Lunch due to meetings during lunch - had to get something substantive.

    Thanks Gus, I would never have thought of milk! I'll try and let you know the results.

    My steak recipe is the shortest ever:

    * volcano hot grill

    * raw steak

    * max 20 second per side

    Serve with salt, pepper and a drop of tuscan olive oil.

    The chef suggests a glass of red wine, possibly "Sagrantino di Montefalco".

    ...Uhmmm... I'm getting hungry.:-)

    Here's the way I used to order steak...

    Waitress: ... and how would you like the steak done?

    Me: Black'n'Blue

    Waitress: Pardon me?

    Me: Not to worry... just tell the cook to chase it out here and I'll cut a piece off as it runs by. 😛

    Boycott dinner - tell her Thanksgiving is next week 😉

    Or dress the turkey with A-1...

    Now my stomach is rumbling.

    I'm definitely stopping by the grocery store for a couple of ribeyes and good cab.

  • Too much talk about steak: I had to have one for dinner!

    This was my steak last saturday. Still alive.

  • I'm not much of a steak fan (or beef in general much), but I think I'll be trying out the steak recipe soon.

    And Steak Talk takes us to 9400 posts on The Thread!

    Yeah, who'd have thought The Thread was an epicurean carnivore? I always thought it was more oriented towards the conquest and/or destruction of the human race.

    Is that all you ate? I notice no side dishes on that plate?

    You don't need anything else if it is a good steak!

    No, of course! That was the plate where I put the steaks before serving. I had roasted potatoes and something else I don't remember. Anyway when I have steak I try to concentrate on the steak itself and limit side dishes.

  • I had a nice thick ribeye Saturday night as part of the victory celebration when Ole Miss beat LSU. 😀

    I also saw the movie "The Blind Side" this weekend and can recommend it as a "feel good" movie. Sandra Bullock was hilarious.

    I will answer the question in advance:

    Yes, many Southern women really ARE like that. I'm married to one.

  • I had a decent rib eye at a steak house in Gettysburg on Friday after a 10+ mile hike with the Scouts covering about 2/3 of the Union lines and the same on the Reb side of the field. Unfortunately I couldn't have the second of the two food groups, beer.
