Are the posted questions getting worse?

  • This is a test to see if I get logged out again while trying to reply to this thread.

  • Okay, this is really really weird. When I submit a reply (from the open form at the end of the page), the thread bounces me back to the previous page. it's done this to me 4 times already and made me think it logged me off in the process (except the last time didn't appear to log me off).

I know what you mean.  I get logged out all the time now.  When I click on a link in a notification email, I have to click the link to login, but it redirects me to a different URL afterwards.  I've learned to copy the URL, then login, then paste the URL to go to the original post I was reading.  Whether I check the "stay logged in" box seems to have no effect.  Whether I last logged in 5 minutes ago or 5 days ago doesn't appear to be a factor either.

I note I do as well. I've wondered if it's because I use multiple devices to access SSC and there's some kind of device limit in the background, as I notice it tends to rotate which device gets logged out. I wouldn't be surprised if when O boot my laptop up next I'll be logged out there, and logging into it will cause my Work PC to be logged out (which'll cause another device to be logged out when I log back in).

Don't know if anyone else has noted similar behaviour?

  • 95% of the time, I use a single device for access. And in the past few months, I have only used one device 100% of the time. So multi-device behavior has not been noticed by me.

EDIT: This was meant humorously, BTW.

She might be claiming Pension Credits though; she'll continue to get it for free then. 🙂

I only use one device as well, so that doesn't appear to be a contributing factor.

. It looks like the next one in Kansas City is in September. https://www.sqlsaturday.com/901/EventHome.aspx The last one in town (that I know of) was in 2015. Steve presented at the one and we had a chance to meet up. He is the only threadizen I have had the pleasure to meet to in real life.

Hoping to come back. On my list, but have some travel to visit my daughter in college, so schedule is up in the air for now.

They might have counted more votes from other places. I saw people asking for them after updating their SSMS.

  • Other than Windowing functions, this is one of the best moves MS has ever done.  It certainly made my day because I used the feature a LOT!

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • I was just under the 'Active threads' view/forum.  For this topic I saw there was an update, so I clicked on the time of the last update '26 minutes ago' and it didn't take me to the last update that went with that time stamp.  It took me to the 'previous' page(at the top of the page) of replies(4,247).  Anyone else have this issue?
