All the US cities are in warm climates (usually) so I'd probably go to any of them. I wanted to go to Orlando but the timing wasn't right. (Except Denver in January)I think we need to get them to Pheonix in July, then hold a SQLRally as a picnic. :Whistling:
Lol... but maybe Sedona and hold it in a sweat lodge.
What kind of sweat lodge? Old fat guys in tiny towels or smoking some silly weed?

You mean you don't feel like you are involved?Oh, just ignore me Jason. PASS has been trying very hard to make changes, I can see that.
PASS UK appears to be pretty well defunct. I registered as a member a while back, have had no notification of any PASS event, no communication from PASS at all in fact, the website is still advertising the April 2010 Pass European conference and has a year old (approx) note on it saying "we are looking to hold one[a session] during Q1 next year" (that's Q1 2011), but the only other information for that session gives Q1 2011 as the date, gives "TBD" as the topic, gives a location and a time and advice to turn up early in order have enough time to clear through security, advice which is singularly useless to anyone who didn't want to turn up every day for three months on the off-chance that there was a session that day.
If the UK chapter is indeed defunct, I wish whoever is running it would admit that, and then people like me wouldn't be left wondering if maybe we are looking at a website that's been replace by a new one and not doing the right things to get communication started.
Anyone in the US who feels Pass isn't involving them enough should maybe look at what happens over here (and then give thanks for what they've got over there)!

Tom,
But you have SQLBits:-P
I know for a fact that PASS is looking at how to better serve the international community. That doesn't mean anything will actually happen or that what happens will happen in a timely manner. PASS doesn't work very quickly. That's also one of the nice things about the SQLRally model, it can scale so many can happen per year around the world.

Thanks Jack. I don't know how I missed that - although it's been going for three and a half years I had never heard of it until today. Maybe I'll get to their next event.
I'm waiting to win the national lottery so that I can afford to get to PASS events in the USA; but I'll probably have to wait a long time, as I never buy a ticket.

Way to go, Koen! If you consider that SSC has 1.3 million members, that's one heck of an accomplishment. 🙂

I haven't heard when selections will be announced. I don't think the "preferences tool" is an official vote, it is just another tool to aid the program committee in selecting sessions. SQLRally had a vote, while this is more of a survey being used to guide the selection team. At least that's what I think it is planned for. I could be wrong since I'm not on the selection team this year (my choice). My understanding is that the preference vote is to get an idea of the types of sessions that people would like to see, not necessarily (key word) act as a literal vote. I hate the thought of voting on sessions because then we'd be spammed (with me leading the charge) by speakers trying to get your attention. I needed a bath after the blatant begging and horrific spam I did to try to get votes for SQL Rally pre-con. I'd hate to have to do that all the time.
Intentioned or not, with more than 600 submitted sessions, it will be hard for them to NOT allow it to influence them. It's human nature.

True, but this one time, I'm taking the supposed high road. I've posted that I have sessions. I'm done. Vote or not. I'm in or not. I'd love to do a pre-con, especially the one Gail & I submitted together, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it one way or another.... much sleep.

I'm going to put a single blog post out (today if I get chance to write it) with a link to my sessions in the preference list, and that's it.
But then, I do already have a guaranteed spot, so it's easy for me to play 'moral high ground'
