I was out Friday night with family at Parker Days, the festival downtown in my little city and checked email while the kids and relatives were on the Ferris Wheel. I saw on Twitter that a number of people were announcing the sessions they'd had accepted. So I fired up email on the TMobile G1, and checked my email. I found 3 emails from someone at PASS, and I opened one.
The newest one was a speaker contract, that I was being asked to print out and then upload to their site. That seemed strange, but I figured I'd deal with it later. I didn't really check the other ones since I'd only submitted one session, and I didn't think it mattered. Then I saw more tweets of people being notified that they were alternates, and so I opened the other email.
After digging through an email obviously formatted for a larger screen, I saw that my session was an alternate selection.
No big deal to me, and since I seem to be moving on a bit of a road show this year, delivering The Modern Resume at a number of places, it's not a big deal to me. I certainly don't need the exposure or credit, and would rather see it given to other people.
So I won't be going through the print, sign, scan, and then upload process. As wired as most of us are, the need to scan and upload seems to be a pain, and I'd just as soon attend and watch rather than look to give my own presentation.
