The Credit Debate

,

Databases get used for many storing many types of data, and with the new spatial and Filestream options in SQL Server 2008, I can see us SQL Server DBAs dealing with more and more types of data in the future.

With these varying types of data, we all know that security is important and that we need to be concerned about preventing unauthorized access to this data as well as unauthorized copying. And as we store more and more types of data, there's a greater chance that each of us will have to protect sensitive information. Financial, medical, identity related, etc.

This Friday, I was thinking with some of the new applications being built and the types of data these application require, how would you answer this poll?

Would you be more worried about biometric data or credit card data?

Or worried the same?

Now I realize that there are places where each might be used in a more sensitive situation. Credit card data for your friend's Internet store that sells $100 a year worth of merchandise might not bother you as much as biometric data for a nuclear power plant. Or biometric data for your home garage door opener doesn't rank up there with a national database of fingerprints.

However I'm looking for a core feeling. Would you be more uncomfortable with one of these types of data than another? Or is there some other type of data that would have you worried about being responsible for its security.
