Restoring could be faster, though I'm not sure if the restore process is tolerant of network issues. The backup process is not.

I'd be sure to check data quality with this. It appears to work, but Kendall Van Dyke might not work well, as perhaps John A. Smith.

Logins give access to the server, and aren't included in the backup. Users are mapped to logins, and have rights/permissions in the database, and are included in the backup.

The backup file contains the system objects, and then all the data in your database, but it contains a portion of the log as well. Any changes that were done...

The backup database doesn't affect the log. The backup log will clear out the changes in the log and allow that space to be reused.

As mentioned, you should be fine with just sending over log backups after the full is moved.
