I am getting an error when running this query in SSRS- "an expression of non-boolean type specified in a context where a condition is expected , near ',' "...

Try this:

select

cast(YourDateTimeCol as date) CalDate,

sum(A) A

from

dbo.YourTable

group by

cast(YourDateTimeCol);

This will not provide values for missing dates...
