DO NOT run an outside executable from a trigger. Triggers are part of the transaction and there is no way I know of to commit the outer transaction (Insert/Update/Delete)...

I don't believe that there is a concurrent user limit in 2005 Express like there was in MSDE. Your main limiter now is that you are restricted to 1GB...

Are you running SQL Server 64-bit? There is no 64-bit driver currently.

I don't know of anywhere in SQL Server (Database Engine) where there are statistics for what rows are accessed most often.
