    Will the letter be auto-generated and incremented? Will it be a meaningful value? (Half the point of an ID column is that it has no business meaning.)

    Have you tried disabling UAC? Merely as testing purposes to rule out UAC.

    Actually you can't use DESX either. If you ask for DESX you get Triple DES with a 168 bit key (MS claims it's 192 bits; I don't believe...
