Have you tried a total server reboot yet? Then checking the Event logs to see if they add any insight to the issue.

I was not aware we were running Dr Watson, is this pre-installed and runs automatically?We use Trend Micro Officescan as our anti-virus solution.

Dr Watson is anti-virus. Did you verify that it was off, or that the install & sql files were excluded from the anti-virus program before you installed?
