The Return to the Office Debate

  • From my perspective of 15 years retired, having worked for 10 employers and with over 42 years in IT, I get sort of weary of this whole debate.  To me, it makes no difference whether you like it or not, you either do as your employer demands, or you get the he!! out.  If you want to make policy, get yourself into a position you can do so, otherwise get over it.

Taking care of your children or walking your dog are not legitimate things to expect your employer to be paying you for.

If that's a response to my message, please note I said I finished my tasks later. I often start 07:30 as it's easy to do if you WFH. I'm talking about fitting work tasks around your home life, not doing things on work time. It's called work life balance and I can only say you would have to be incredibly churlish to object to that.
