    ...

now i am working in one organisation they ask me to write the program for that scenario using cursor..

that s y i ask help to the experts..like u and gail etc.

    Prasad,

usually, an organization has a business case that needs to be resolved (in your case: tons per day based related to some inventory information).

Based on the data you have and the expected result it should be up to you what method you use to solve the issue.

Like Gail, Lynn and Jeff I'd vote against a cursor. Jeff even posted a code snippet that might get you started...

If you need help on how to get an expected result based on given sample data you should follow the links mentioned before and give us something "to play with".

If you need to transform a business case description into database related requirements (e.g. table def, data type, stored procedures) you might want to get someone in helping you to do it.

Side note: you'll get the fastest answers if you try to help us help you. Sample data in a ready to use format and expected result would be a good start. 😉

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
