Edit: Removed by popular demand.Expected to see some comments following this one; has me curious. 😛
Was a response to Gift's implicit "nolo contendre". Nothing that matters.
Calling somebody you don't know a retard is an implicit response then you need tolerance education. If my replies are not comprehensible as you have been saying, then I would have been ignored. Your intolerance made the intolerant uncomfortable.
I have never called you a retard. "Retard" is a technical term for people in a very specific IQ and mental maturity range. I don't know your IQ, but from your writings, I can easily deduce that it is significantly higher than that range.
The rest of your paragraph doesn't make any sense in English, so I'll ignore it.

Why do so few people understand the basic principles behind backups?
But all would-be/junior DBAs who ask questions here fully understand the principles of backups: backup is what you do to make room for a longer runup.
DBCC Timewarp, anyone?

Why not - nothing else (except perhaps hanging) will help that guy.

I need some inspiration, what do you guys do when you start to lose focus and don't have the time to go get the crap kicked out of you in some dojo? 😉
Eat a bag of jelly beans washed down by a litre or two of good red wine, take a 30 minute nap, and then work a 40 hour shift on a strong black coffee diet.
This is guaranteed to beat more crap out of you than 11 sessions on the tatami (unless you have 7th Dan opponents, in which case in the recipe substitute UK quarts for liters and bad for good).

*sigh*
just not my day. IT tried to close my ticket to load new info into an existing table, now wants to tell me that adding new columns (effdate/termdate) to the table, such that we can tell which records are the new codes and which are the old (how they think we can do that without some sort of flag is beyond me) will be a project.
Never mind that I needed these on 1/1, and it's April already...
[Edit] heading to the store for jelly beans and wine, see you in half an hour...[\edit]

Here's one for y'all.
That one will go down as one of the best threads ever. One could only hope the OP memorized the answers actually uses them in an interview.
That was awesome, thanks for the laughs guys!

Maybe he's got another set from another site. I had a colleague once who devoted much effort to devising much worse (because actually credible, even if you were only slightly dim) suggestions than these - but that was about FP not DB; still I can always hope and pray that there is that kind of expert out there in teh DB world too.
