Are the posted questions getting worse?

... Now if we could just hire some consultants that can actually write code that doesn't suck we will be in good shape. 😛

I'm more than willing to take you on as my first client.

We certainly need the help. Unfortunately to get the help we need the powers that be to loosen the purse strings enough to let us bring somebody on board. :w00t:

  • OK, test upgrade to the newest version of InstantForums went well this week. Upgrade time down to a few hours (was over 24 at first). Kickoff meeting on Sept 5. Not sure of the time to implement, as we have some changes to profiles and integration that they don't have. We are licensing the source code again, and getting the DAL code, which our developers will rewrite slightly to allow integrations in a few places.

Outside estimate is 2-3 months, but after a 2 week sprint, we'll know more.

Thanks for the update Steve. I know that many of us are really excited about some better forum software in the near future. We appreciate all the effort you and the team are putting into this.

I'm so used to this forum UI that I'll probably miss it at first, including all the problems that come with it. But I'm really excited to know that the site is being given some attention to stay up to date.

Woo-hoo! Just found out that I'm speaking at SQL Saturday #545 in Pittsburgh!

Congratulations, Ray. I hope to see you there. I don't know if I'm speaking in the last session of the WBADBA track or not, so I don't know if I'll make your session.

Thanks! I also saw that Jeff Moden is on the speaker's list as well. Looking forward to meeting more Threadizens in person!

Nice one Ray - I respect those who present

I'd hold off on saying that until you actually see my presentation... 😉

  • Are you serious? I think they're perfect. They're great to identify cheaters from people that actually know what they're talking about.

I couldn't get past the 3rd question, it's full of bs.

Looking forward to meeting you. When are you coming in?

I plan on traveling Friday, 9/30. Unfortunately, I probably won't be at the speaker's dinner. Most likely, I'll either be driving or taking Amtrak. If I take the train, it doesn't get into Pittsburgh until 8pm. And if I drive, I plan on getting tickets to seeing my favorite band in concert that night! (Hey, opportunity knocks -- what can I tell you?)

WOW those are hideous. I couldn't read through all of that. It was challenging enough that it was written entirely by someone who is not a native english speaker. But add to that the unbelievably poor answers I only made it through about 20 or so. I think the funniest part is all the people praising the poster for providing such useful information. :w00t:

I made it only to Q2. This phrase stopped me dead:

... or reproduction takes place in the tables

P.s. The comment section was a bit rich, essential yet basic questions that we all should know

I particularly like Q6, the one about cursors.

...he unambiguously declares a pointer with a name...

    Seriously???

  • If you were to attend a keynote presentation on "New features of SQL 2016", would you prefer brief demos of each new feature? Just discussion, along with code/screenshots on slides, and use the time to get into detail on each new feature?

Keynote's only 1 hour, so not time to do both. I'm leaning towards the latter, similar to the SQLBits keynote from last year, or the day 2/3 keynotes from PASS the last few years.
