One of the things that makes people turn away from a forum is when bad behavior isn't addressed.
I'd agree that a +1 shouldn't be the first thing in the tool box, but it can be a useful one. On the boards I moderate, I'll use another moderator to help if I don't think I'm getting a message across.

I don't want my "bed" behavior addressed on this site!!!! 😀
(I know, simple typo. You meant bad behavior.) 🙂

Not sure what bad behavior you are talking about, when we get snarky once in a while or when an OP posts a question that could be answered with a quick google search or doesn't provide the information we need to actually need to help answer a question.
If it is us, we are actually good at policing ourselves and addressing behavior that steps over the professional line into bad or unwelcome behavior on our part. We've even apologized when appropriate as well. My comment that sparked my apology here, in my opinion didn't really cross that line.
That's one of the reasons this is the only MS SQL Server site I use and participate on. The others lack the same level of professionalism in my humble opinion.

Bad behavior is policed by this wonderful thing called a REPORT button. While lazy OPs can be annoying, I would hardly call their behavior bad. People have been banned from this forum for truly bad behavior.
And that's only after we sic the Hippo and the Pork Chop Launcher after them.

And the post she was talking about was the one she made on this thread. That is exactly what this thread is for, it has become our Water Cooler, a place to vent with peers when we start to reach that point where we just might actually step over the line with an OP.

And then you this type of question:
************(11/16/2015)
How can i round off decimal number. E.g if i have 7.9---i need to round it off to 8, if i have 7.4---i need to round it off to 7...i tried round, ceiling.. but nothing got worked... please suggest

Yup. And I'm thankful it's here. It's like a pressure release valve where people can blow off steam without causing harm. It's also a good sounding board where we ask if we've gone over the line. I personally think we're excellent at policing ourselves. Like you, this is the only SQL Server forum I participate in. I think it's the best in the world.

I gave it a shot. We'll see if the shiny thing in my office is the crystal ball making an appearance or merely the sun beckoning me to go outside.

I'm going to ignore your (repeated) implication that I don't try to teach people. Feel free to peruse my history here if you like.
Some people don't want to be taught, they want the answer to the crisis of the day, and any attempt to teach beyond that may as well be addressed to a wall.

At least you have sunshine. Looks like snowy weather is coming here for here.

Gilamonster,
I think you have been trying too hard to teach someone without altering your approach if your response is that someone has asked a bad (as in ineffective) question 20 times, and you haven't reached out to them to get them to ask better questions.

And you haven't been a member of this site long enough to actually make that statement. Perhaps you should take a few months to read this thread in its entirety, you may learn a few things about those of us who have been a part of this community for a long time.
