Yes, PASS UK isn't well organised. I found out about by chance, having decided to search on the PASS website for anything in trhe UK.Really? It's mentioned at most events, the UGs should mention what's coming up. The UK SQL Sats are normally listed in UG emails. So I guess it depends on whether you manage to attend an of UGs as I'll admit I don't think I've seem anything from PASS central about them. Twitter seems to be the main place the SQL Sats get announced.
It's always worth scanning the reserved list on the SQL Sat web site every couple of weeks. As they will normally sit there for a 6 or so weeks. Just waiting for Southampton to confirmed in December, its been on the reserved list since the start of the year.
I'll mention the lack of PASS promotion of them to the UG leaders I know.

Speaking as the PASS Board member responsible for Chapters, my apologies for any issues that you're seeing with your local user groups.
Funny thing is, many (most?) of the user groups in the UK actually aren't affiliated with PASS. Many (most?) are very well run and, from an outsiders perspective, seem to serve their community very well.
I'm always on the lookout for more things that PASS can offer, especially in the UK. If you have any ideas (apart from improved communication), please let me know. I'm interested.

Doh forgot about you Grant!
Oddly enough Manchester is affiliated with PASS - well they are listed as a chapter under the PASS web site.
As I said I can't remember seeing any emails with regards to UK SQL Sats, it's normally via Twitter, having been to the previous one, or in a User group email that mentions other events coming up. Which I realise isn't that helpful to some.
If you are about on Friday at Redgate central maybe we can have a chat about it?

And Manchester is a good group. Don't get me wrong. I'm trying to be helpful, not critical.

Well don't forget about SQL Relay in OctoberRodders...
I'm on the mailing list for that already so all things considered I'll be there.
Irritatingly enough, Mrs BWFC has decided that the 25th is the best day, before a round of wedding attendances and holidays, to go shopping in Manchester. If you see a bored looking chap in an Iron Maiden T-shirt gazing through the window, don't chase him off please.

Redgate - as I said if you are there I should be able - traffic permitting - to swing by and say hi. So we probably should organise something!
Manchester - Nope I agree they have a good set people organizing it. I realize most UK user groups aren't PASS chapters - but they appear to be - just to be awkward π
With there being five this year it probably does need looking at from a PASS central point of view to get the word out to those who are members but maybe can't make the UGs or other events like some of us do (I have no life!)

Excellent choice of T-shirt, I am looking forward to the new album.
Looks like the Relay event this year is in Huddersfield.

So am I. I've got my copy ordered on Amazon already. Although that means I have to wait to get back from work to listen to it, it reduces the chance of finding out Tesco aren't stocking it because it's not One Direction or their ilk.
Huddersfield's good for me. With the wind behind me I can get there as quickly as I can Manchester.

Regarding SQL Saturdays, if your user group doesn't announce the ones coming to your area, then they probably should start. If you want the information directly from the source, they're announced on https://www.sqlsaturday.com/. They currently have events scheduled out through January 2016.

Back from Webelos camp. We had a pretty intense evening Monday night. There were tornado warnings around the camp so we went on EP (Emergency Procedures) which meant that everybody had to bunker down in the storm shelter. We were in there for about 2 1/2 hours. It is a large concrete bunker mostly underground and it gets really hot inside when there are a lot of people in there. Everybody was very friendly with other and happily there was no tornado near the camp. It did however make things a lot more soggy since we got 7-8 inches of rain in a couple hours. It was however nice to have a break from the intense heat of the day before as the temps dropped from around 90F down to around 65F and got into the 50sF overnight.

SQL Saturdays are listed in the monthly PowerPoints from PASS, so there's no excuse for PASS Chapters not to mention upcoming SQL Saturdays. Other user groups that are not PASS Chapters don't get the PowerPoint so it's up to them to do their own (simple) research.
