How much did that barn cost? I need one that is about 60'x100'

    $100k. 72x140, Big Top Structures.

Hmm. I think I need to figure out how to work for Redgate.

No Doubt. Or have a wife that rakes in the dough like Mrs. Jones

Mrs. Jones makes more than me for sure. Plus this is a business expense and tax deduction, so it isn't as bad as it seems. An investment in the property as well. Horse boarding pays for some of it.

  • Happy New Year, everyone.

    Be safe.

There are disk speed test tools available (some are free). Test the disk. It's possible it's too slow for use this way.

That's a good point. I'll check into those. MOF, I think I know where some of the free tools are if I can job my memory.

    Thanks for the advice.

Not only the disk speed but USB port itself matters a lot.

    Version history

    1.1.1 Prereleases

    1.1.2 USB 1.0

    1.1.3 USB 2.0

    1.1.4 USB 3.0

You know, that might be the issue. USB 1.0 drive and USB 2.0 port... (I think. I have to double-check).

My favorite RPG of all time was Shadowrun. 2nd Edition. I recently tried to GM a campaign (well, recently being a year and a half ago) in the new edition. They've shark jumped so hard the game makes me cry. If you're familiar with the system at all, I had to base it in Denver so I could have Ghostwalker 'declare' certain rediculous new things illegal, immoral, or inedible. Standard execution was wait for Ghostwalker to get hungry then he'd go through the local populace looking for 'edible law' breakers and having himself a chomp. [/rant]

Wow. That sounds like the chapter I wrote for Spy Games (SR 4e). And yes, Ghostwalker is messing with the peeps. Your version isn't too far off base.

What in particular did you have problems with that you call it shark jumping?

  • Belated Happy New Year to everyone. I hope things go well and all the bad things that happened to you stay behind in 2011.

  • So, skirting the edge of the "no tech speak in The Thread" rule...

How is your first week of 2012 shaping up work wise? Are you in firefighting mode with month end / year end stuff? Has it breezed by because everyone's too busy with their own stuff?

Are you starting in on the pile o' projects for 2012? Or are you bored out of your skull because peeps are still on vacation and this is the only break you expect to get for the rest of the year?

I'm halfway between firefighting and pile o' projects.

Fire. Someone did an unauthorized mod on the prod server's vm (ERP 3000 employees on stand still). Now it won't even boot. Worse than that, the only way it might boot is to kill our only backup VM. And the guy's not answering his phone!
