Are the posted questions getting worse?

    Jeff,

Keep an eye here, and the newsletter. We'll publish something when we hear.

    Thanks, Steve. I kinda figured...

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

speaking of which, anybody used yuuguu before? supposedly the presenter installs, and the audience doesn't have to do anything to view the presentation, not sure 'zackly how that works, trying it out tonight.

Sounds promising and just right. Do you have a URL for that, Jon?

Since I will never again get this opportunity.....http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=yuuguu

  • Curious, when you're presenting remotely folks don't have a webcam pointing at the crowd at all? Seems like that should be a gimme, otherwise you could be talking to yourself in a closet, which can get boring after an hour or two.

I would appreciate if any of you who are going to use remote speakers, or are going to broadcast your user group meetings, could post the URL in here. We're considering trying either/both for our PASS Chapter and I'd like to see what the experience is like for the remote viewer.

I got the chance to catch most of Grant's presentation to Jason's group the other night. From a technology point of view, I was happy with how it worked. Great presentation too. I learned quite a bit about reading execution plans.

    Grant,

What technology did you use? Other than "GOTO MEETING", I've never done a remote presentation before.

I can answer that. We used MS Livemeeting. Using the livemeeting tools I recorded the session. Once recorded I had to convert it though. I am now looking at the best way to upload that to the web.

That could be arranged. In our last session, multiple people had a webcam. We had a spattering of people across the states, so a single crowd cam would not have been very useful.

  • I actually like livemeeting, works better than some of the others I've been involved with, especially for feedback during the meeting (status color thingy) meetingplace and webex are the ones I've used specifically. We even have Telepresence units installed here at work, think $10,000 web cams. ridiculous.

Anyhoo, I was really hoping your session would make Community Choice Jeff, sorry that it didn't. I think I got 3 out of 4, but can't remember if I voted for one of them or not, since I liked several sessions in the BI section.

and I gotta say, I was tempted to vote for Sean's session strictly because of the title, nothing more. Made me laugh out loud while I was voting.

Size of the file is somewhat prohibitive. I tried my blog site and the chapter site.

What the resolution on the video? Have you considered compressing the video, if it's an option. (I'm no video expert and I did not stay at that .... Express Hotel last night.)

resolution is 640x480. I do have the video compressed into a rar file and that brings it down to 55mb.

Uploading to the chapter site you are limited to 3-5MB according to PASS. Bigger than that you'll need to contact PASS and they'll setup FTP or upload it for you if you email it to them, if your email will allow that.

Might this be a good time to set up a SkyDrive at Office.Live? 25GB of free storage could come in handy.
