New Product - Equivalent Script

  • Article

At Last! No need to convert SQL Scripts from one dialect to another. Although SQL is a simple language, it can be tedious, inaccurate and frustrating when developing equivalent SQL scripts for multiple database servers. This product handles the conversion for you. (Not Reviewed)

Red Gate Web Site Usability Survey

  • Article

Red Gate asked if we would run a link to a short survey they are working on. Should only take a couple minutes and no personal information is required. They've been an advertiser with us since almost the beginning so we're glad to pass this along to our readers.

Building Communities with Software

  • Article

Steve Jones found this link that has some great thoughts on how software should be used to help build a community. Read this if you have time and post some comments. One thing in particular we liked (read the article!) were the comments about emailing responses. Your comments on this one will help us plan as we continue to try to build a better site/community.

A Quick Restore

While doing some testing of an application, I wanted to reset my environment after doing some testing with this code:

USE DNRTest

BACKUP DATABASE DNRTest TO DISK = 'dnrtest.bak'
GO
/*
Bunch of stuff tested here
*/RESTORE DATABASE DNRTest FROM DISK = 'dnrtest.bak' WITH REPLACE
What happens if this runs, assuming the "bunch of stuff" isn't anything affecting the instance.
