Why I failed my goals

,

I have two goals that I have sought to achieve by mid-year of 2012. The deadline I set for myself is up. Goals achieved: Zero, Zip, Nada, Zilch.

Null. Or is that " "?

Earlier this year I set two goals: 1. Learn Ruby on Rails 2. Obtain a SQL Server Job. They remained to be just that – goals, unrealized.

Why I failed?

No concrete plan

Without a concrete plan to execute, those goals were reduced to being “mere wishes” – something that I only dreamed about. I knew the “what’s” and the “where’s”, only I failed to come up with the “why’s” and the “how’s”. But I know “who’s” to blame.

No solid commitment

Not only didn’t I have a plan to execute, but I did not also commit my whole self to those goals. You can say this is an offshoot of not having a plan in the first place.

No clear direction

Without plan and commitment, I got lost in the maze. The lack of clear direction made it impossible for me to recognize opportunities, or the lack thereof.

No firm courage

I have not mustered enough courage to break away from my comfort zone. I made excuses to not code. I made excuses to not read more. I made excuses to not advance my skills.

These spell Failure.

But I have another chance.
