SQLSaturday #13 in Atlanta on April 25, 2009

,

I've been busy with other projects and haven't had time to focus as much as I'd like on my SQLSaturday efforts, so to get back in the groove a little I wanted to remind you that the AtlantaMDF and Stuart Ainsworth  are hosting SQLSaturday #13 on April 25, 2009 at Microsoft, 1125 Sanctuary Parkway Suite 300, Alpharetta, GA 30009.  Stuart read the economic tea leaves well and decided that trying to build his event on sponsorship funding alone would be risky, so this is the first SQLSaturday to charge the optional lunch fee of $10 - all of which goes towards lunch costs, nothing towards administration and no volunteers or speakers are paid for their efforts.

As far as the lunch fee, I'm pleased that Stuart is giving it a try. Raising money is easy for some people (or locations), others really really struggle with it and it's nice to alternatives. For me it was a day of head scratching, learning the PayPal API so that we could register people and then send them off to a secure location to handle the payment (no, Andy does not want credit card numbers on his server!). I still need to implement a UI to let us handle refunds, but we'll get there in time for the event.

I'm planning to attend and will be putting in a couple sessions this weekend. How about joining me for the day? It's $10, but I suspect the best value for $10 you're likely to find any time soon!
