SQL server 2012 Startup parameters

I’m sure that I’m not the only one with nightmares about the startup parameters in older versions of SQL Server 200x – the design and UI is just bad, it is so easy to forget a semicolon or mess up the syntax – and to end up with SQL Server that is not able to start. Here is a little screen shot to show you what I mean:

After seeing this image, I’m sure You know what I mean.

SQL Server 2012 to the rescue

YES it’s true! This has been improved in SQL Server 2012. Now there is a dedicated tab is the service properties to handle the startup properties. This makes it easy peasy to add / remove startup parameters and traceflags. Take a look at this picture and you see what I mean.
