Have you ever been to a SQL Saturday where someone 'rocks up' for a beginner's presentation. In fact he or she works at a help desk and the boss sent him or her, to the event, to 'learn everything there is to know about SQL Server'.
This ACTUALLY happened to two people at the Nashua event last year. I thought about this and asked the folks at the North Haven event (in March) if I could swap out my presentation on recursion, for a presentation entitled 'I wanna learn SQL Server'.
Believe it or not I had 17 attendees, ALL of whom stayed to the very end.
This said (and if you agree with me), why not contact your SQL Saturday committee and ask them to reserve at least one or two sessions for the TOTAL beginner and let the public know that they ARE for beginners! Folks, let us all give back to the community! As my Mom would say, 'what goes around comes around'.
