,

Tabular Data Visualized by Power View

I am presenting this Saturday 5/10/2014 at 4PM at the Houston TX SQL Saturday Event.  My session is titled Tabular Data Visualized by Power View.  It focuses on showing how to build SSAS Tabular Services and how to connecting Power View reports against Tabular Services.  ln this session I will demo building a model including covering these topics:

  • Connecting to Data Sources
  • Setting a Date Table (Required for Time Calculations)
  • Creating a Hierarchy
  • Creating Relationships
  • Changing tables as source
  • Adding New Fields to Existing Tables
  • Formatting Fields
  • Creating Calculated Column
  • Creating Measures
  • Build and Deploy

Then I focus on building out Power View reports that connect to the model that was just built.  During this section I show the following topics:

  • Crude Oil Production over time by Area
  • Tile By -> Oil Group
  • Sorting Charts
  • Interactive Charts
  • Filters
  • Map View

After attending the session, I hope everyone can leave and start building models and leveraging Power View on their own.
