See You at SQL Saturday #46 - Raleigh

,

EDIT: Updated to include a picture of me.

I'm headed up this weekend to speak at SQL Saturday #46 - Raleigh. This time I'll be giving two presentations, both on SQL Server security:

Fortress SQL Server

This is my standard OS to database security presentation, but I'll be pulling out the quantitative risk assessment portion and putting in some information with regards to SQL injection. There was a request for a presentation on SQL injection, so I'll cover it at a high level in this presentation as well. Since something has to go, the risk assessment portion got booted.

The Dirty Business of Auditing

This is a new presentation and it'll represent a condensed version of the 4 hour class I give yearly for ISACA certified professionals, which earns then 4 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPEs). I'm making the assumption that some of the basics I cover with them, especially with regards to OS security and surface area aren't needed for a SQL Saturday audience.

So if you're going to be at SQL Saturday #46, I'd love to meet you or catch up with you, as the case may be. If you're used to my profile pic, I'll look a little different. My hair is longer, about shoulder length now, as I'm growing it back out to donate to Locks of Love again. And I've got a beard, and there's quite a bit of gray in it. Think Andy Leonard with long hair, more gray, and glasses, and you'll have a good picture of me.

The picture here is close, except that was taken in the spring, and my hair has continued to grow. If you're wondering, this was during a drama event called Heaven's Gates, Hell's Flames put on by my church. Since that can be just a wee bit scary for young ones, I ran the children's worship event during the drama performances. On my left hand is Squinky, who I've used over the years to help teach Biblical principles to kids.
