there are always several answers to questions. The answer presented here was the best fix at the time with out needing to learn and understand some reporting software.

Believe me I tried to look at the code and make it as fast as I can.
But the more loops and complex string minipulation you have to do the slower...

SQL Reporting services is a great tool and I have used it for some reports but it has limits and would not work for what I need...

So if I have two databases
Master
Production
each will have it's own unique sysobjects entries.

this code is usable by ANY barcode reader that has the ability to read Code39 bar codes.
I wrote this to be used with a WASP pen bar code reader but...

my first question would be why do you need sp_executesql?
my guess is that vales are being passed in to your procedure
and you need to build the insert dynamically..??..

A) The column is a Varchar(50)
B) AvgLen = 10
MaxLen = 32
MinLen = 2

Where I am using this is in a PartNumber search
So say I pass in part of a PartNumber
