Use the value from EventData to find the machine name. I'm not sure why you are querying less...

When someone reboots a server, it sends a "stop" message to all services. They aren't killed, they are shut down. It's possible that someone might kill the SQL Server service...

I'd use David's technique for a quick count.
Is this something that runs often, or just an ad hoc type report? If the latter, then select count(*) from (subquery) makes sense.

You can use a DDL trigger to capture the event. Here's a sample:

The eventdata doesn't have the machine name, but it will have the login name

Do you have a connection to the server in any way? If you can connect as an admin, you can do a NET STOP on that machine's services.
