My thoughts: If it's a set structure that needs to be queried often, the deserialize it into relational and store it properly. SQL Server works better with traditional row/col storage...

The install usually asks you for the folder for the source ISO, not the installed product.

If the decryption doesn't work, you'll get a NULL. This is poorly documented in BOL, so that's likely your issue.
