You can setup a trace, but you'd have to capture all T-SQL or stored proc executions on the server and dig through them.

I think you hit it on the head. The MS product was different, but interesting. The instability was mostly on OS2 and when we hit OS2 2.1, it ran better.

Backup restore is the lowest impact option. Detach works as well.

don't mess with DTS, replication,etc.

Be sure you move logins and I'd include msdb in the backup/restore process. search sp_help_revlogin...
